This spring, Irish tennis teams had an ace of a year, making a solid run at the ACC Tournament. On the men’s side, they fell short of making the championship against Virginia 4-1. However, even if their tournament hopes were just above love, they still had a season of few faults. Starting the season off with a win at Yale on the Road and just a few weeks later sweeping both Duquesne and Western Michigan in the same weekend, the Irish set themselves up for success. Continuing the rally, freshman Nicholas Patrick was named ACC Player of the Week on March 3rd after a smashing success of a tournament against Florida State and Miami. The Fighting Irish climbed the ranks, earning the No. 3 seed at the ACC Tournament, posting their best record since 2014, and ending with an impressive showing in the semifinals.

For the women, finishing 18-9 and ending their ACC run in the quarterfinals put up quite the season. Beginning with an opener cleanup, the Irish women matched the men in a double sweep of Western Michigan and Duquesne, cheering her name on as they began their season. Continuing, they had a strong showing in shutting out Perdue 7-0 on Feb. 7. Echoing this success, on Feb. 10, Jessica Kovalick was named ACC Freshman of the Week. After gaining a match point heading into the ACC Tournament with their first victory against Louisville, the women fell into a lull during March, but woke up just in time for the big leagues. ND Irish Women’s dominated the ACC Women’s Double Awards and rounded out the regular season with an upset of No. 19-ranked Cal and impressive wins against Boston and Clemson in the ACC Tournament.

Track

On Jan. 17, at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational, the Notre Dame Irish kicked out of the blocks and into a record-breaking season at the start of the gun. Titus Bretzke ran a personal best in his first 600m race of the official season at 1:19.19s, earning first place overall and a spot at the fifth fastest time in men’s indoor 600m. Likewise, Gabriella Zeller placed third overall in women’s triple jump at 12.08m, leaping into the sixth-best women’s jump in ND history. Just days after, ND alumni Jadin O’Brien put ND Track in the news by earning a spot on the USA Olympic Bobsled and Skeleton in the 2026 Winter Olympics, finishing No. 7 overall. As the season progressed, the Irish put on a strong showing at ACCs with Obi Okeke throwing 18.50m in men’s shotput to win 1st overall in the tournament. On the same day, Matthew Smith set a new 800m men’s indoor record at Notre Dame at 1:47.42, which hadn’t been touched since 1997. As the outside air warmed, ND prepared for the outdoor season, setting yet another program best time at the first outdoor meet of the season. Sophie Novak made history in the women’s 1500m with a time of 4:08.90, and Amaya Aramini finished with 32:33.77 in the 10,000m, ranking third of all time in program history.

Softball

Second time’s the charm? ND softball's home opener was postponed due to a rain delay. Unfortunately, that old saying ‘third time's the charm’ did not apply to this game as the Irish fell to Clemson in the series. However, if we are still talking in clichés, what doesn’t kill you must make you stronger, because the Fighting Irish then came back and beat Cal in their second series of the season. For the rest of the season, it was a ping-pong between wins and losses for the Irish. With wins against Western Michigan and Syracuse and losses against Louisville and FL State, the Irish are about to head into a seven-game stretch that will help dictate their final standings for the ACC Tournament in May.

Women’s Lacrosse

Kicking off the season opener with a 4-0 win over Harvard set the tone for this team’s season. Notre Dame Women’s Lacrosse, ranked No. 14 nationally, has been running a clinic in grit. With a record of 12-4, including a 12-9 defeat against Pitt for a ranked win, 22-3 against Florida State, and 21-7 against Louisville, the Irish certainly have been fighting. Through a quadruple overtime loss to Syracuse and a defeat to Clemson, the Irish have continued to prove they can pick themselves up and come back time and time again. Players Katy Timarky, Madison Rassas and Maura Irish were named Inside Lacrosse Women Midseason All-Americans, and Timarky was recently named a 2026 Tewaaraton Nominee. Heading into ACC, they are ranked No. 15 nationally and No. 6 in the bracket, looking to battle their way through a notoriously challenging conference.
