God, Country, Notre Dame. The university has long had a relationship with the American government. Seven U.S. presidents gave the commencement address while in office. Our football team continues to play the Navy’s Midshipmen every year, commemorating our close working relationship during World War II to keep the university financially afloat. Countless alumni have served in Washington D.C. as judges, legislators, staffers, journalists and policy wonks.
