I am so excited for today. Everyone’s been talking about this darty for months. Apparently this is a party that they only have twice a year, and there’s a pretty intricate theme. Almost the entire school is involved, and everyone gets a certain time that they can begin dartying. This is a day-long event too! The earliest time people begin is at 6:50 AM. Get this, though—it all happens on a Monday!
All the upperclassmen have been giving us advice, which I think is really nice but also a little strange. I’ve never been to a party that requires advice, but I guess this is college, right? The biggest piece of advice they give is to start dartying as early as you can. If your time is at 7 AM, you start at 7 AM on the dot. Someone even suggested that I change the settings on my computer clock so that the seconds appear, but that seems a bit excessive to me.
Another thing everyone talks about is how competitive dartying is, which should be interesting. Maybe at the darty they run out of drinks really fast? It could be one of those get-drunk-as-fast-as-you-can types of things. Everyone also always says that you need to have backup plans, which I’m assuming means a second location to go to in case the cops break up the party. Dartying here seems really intense, but it should be a good time!
Here we go, 7:30 AM. It’s still a little weird to me that this darty starts so early, and that everyone starts drinking alone in their rooms. I wasn’t given much direction beyond that, so the rest will be a surprise. Oh my gosh, there’s people outside walking to class. Ha, nerds. Do they even know what today is?
I’m three beers in by now and nothing seems to be happening. Maybe everyone overslept? I’ll just wait it out and see.
Okay. This is ridiculous. It’s almost 9 AM, and this party was a complete bust. I know this is college and all, but I need to get my act together. For God’s sake, it’s a Monday morning. I don’t know what I’m doing with my life. I don’t even know what classes I’m taking next semester. Great, that reminds me: I forgot to make an appointment with my advisor.
