From game days to photos for the ‘gram, students at Notre Dame consistently look for unique Fighting Irish-inspired fits. While these sometimes come from the campus bookstore or their friends’ closets, students also take to online resellers to find the style they’re looking for. Vintage ND, an online storefront that sells Notre Dame merchandise from the ‘70s to the ‘90s, is one of these resellers making its mark on campus.
The founder of Vintage ND, Corey Warner, was born in South Bend, Indiana. He attended Ball State University and graduated in 2022 with a degree in Sales and Professional Selling. Warner developed a passion for vintage clothing and began working on a business model for reselling those items during his undergraduate years.
“My whole brand started as a hobby,” Warner said. “In college, I loved thrifting. It’s kind of like a scavenger hunt.”
In 2023, Warner returned to South Bend and completed an entrepreneurship program through Notre Dame. The business he started at Ball State quickly evolved into curating vintage Notre Dame pieces and selling them to students and fans online.
“Growing up here, going to Notre Dame events, sports and football games and tailgates, I’m really connected there,” Warner said. “That’s why I wanted to start this business.”
Since Vintage ND’s creation in 2023, Warner has amassed an online following of almost 10,000 people. Every week, Warner takes photos and produces content for his Instagram page before posting items for sale on Fridays at 5 p.m. From his tailgate to March Madness collections, Warner searches for rare pieces to fit specific occasions.
“I’m not just a normal vintage reseller,” Warner said. “I do more of the curation. I try to find the best quality items.”
Warner first started out visiting local South Bend flea markets, estate sales, and digging through the bins of Goodwill. More recently, he’s connected with fans around the country who are looking to sell or trade their own vintage pieces. While the main audience for Vintage ND is current students looking for unique Notre Dame merchandise to wear at games or on campus, alumni and fans from around the world also shop at Vintage ND.
“I know how big Notre Dame fans are around the U.S.,” Warner said. “Seeing how big of an impact I’ve already started makes me feel amazing.”
While the Notre Dame network and Vintage ND’s audience expands outside of South Bend, the brand stays close to its local roots. This fall, Warner collaborated with Corby’s Irish Pub, a classic South Bend landmark for students and alumni. Vintage ND has also had stands at local markets, such as the Yeah Totally vintage market, which took place on March 29.
“It’s a local business,” Warner said. “Everything you see, from the marketing to the Instagram to the messaging to the shipping, it’s all me.”
As his business continues to grow, Warner is hoping to hire someone to help with Vintage ND. The demand for unique items amongst Notre Dame students and fans is high, and Vintage ND is just one of many local businesses that works to give clothing a new home.
“My vintage products were worn by fans, students, and alumni,” Warner said. “[Vintage ND is] giving a new life to these items.”
