14 Notre Dame men’s lacrosse has opened the past 14 seasons with a win. Kevin Corrigan’s top ranked Irish defeated No. 13 Georgetown by a score of 12-7.  Sergio Perkovic and Mikey Wynne netted four and three goals, respectively. Specialist PJ Finley won 16 of 25 faceoffs, while goalie Shane Doss recorded 14 saves. The Irish are in pursuit of their first national championship in program history.


400 The Irish softball team has recorded exactly 400 wins at home throughout the program’s 27-year history. In those 27 years, Notre Dame softball has never had a losing record. The only other Notre Dame athletics program to do so is the women’s soccer program. ND softball is indomitable at home, shutting opponents out in 173 home games. The 2016 home schedule is set to begin on March 17 against Bowling Green in Melissa Cook Stadium.


86 This year marks the 86th edition of Bengal Bouts. Hundreds of Notre Dame students participate in the boxing event, which began in 1931. Boxing at Notre Dame traces its roots to legendary football head coach Knute Rockne. Today, men and women of Notre Dame fight in Bengal Bouts each spring and in the women’s tournament Baraka Bouts, which occurs in the fall.


4 In Muffet McGraw’s 29 seasons as head coach of the Notre Dame women’s basketball team, she has led her team to a top four finish in conference play 26 times. The Irish have won 91 of their last 95 games against conference opponents. This season also marks ND’s seventh consecutive 25-win season. With a guaranteed double bye in the ACC tournament, McGraw’s team is ready for March to begin.
